Before We jump to the steps, I would like to explain the two types of blogs online to help you make a better choice

1. Self-hosted (e.g WordPress)
2. Non-hosted (e.g blogger)

Self-hosted: You will have to pay for hosting and install any blogging software to your host (e.g WordPress)

Non-hosted: There is no need for hosting plan, your blogging platform will host (Blogspot or WordPress.com ) will host your blog for free.

1. Pick a Domain Name
Domain name simply means your online address or your web Url, it is what your blog will be located with.
Advice - in choosing a domain name to consider:
keywords
avoid numbers
avoid symbols (especially underscore)

You can choose whatever you want but keep to the advice above, as long as it's not taken your good to go. Once you have gotten an idea, go ahead and purchase it with any reliable name registrars.
