This is very true because it is the amount of reach and patronage that you can get and enjoy that would determine whether your business would be a crawler or would develop in leaps and bounds. With the amount of competition in the market and different human beings having different wants and need, it is a challenge to want to have a lot of them for yourself but this is not an impossible challenge.
Winning customers over is not as simple a passing hot knife through butter and even keeping the customers glued to the business after is another challenge you would have to contend with. In this fast-paced world where businesses come and go with the wind, the question of how to know what the customer needs and know the customers themselves bother a lot of entrepreneurs but in the apt and simple steps below, all that can be a thing of the past.

1. Have a customer database
A customer database would not only help you stay in touch with your beloved customers, it would also be something of a feedback loop for you to constantly be in touch with them, understand them and know their needs at all times that you may better fill it. there are a variety of softwares out there that can manage this kind of tasks such as Zoho, Insightly, and Agile.
2. Engage your customers
In a business where you create services or sell some wares, there would be times when you would be in very direct contact with your customers. Don’t come off as pushy but simple when engaging your clients in a discussion. You could pose simple questions which would not seem out of place to the also to better understand how to serve them.
3. Celebrate your customers
To keep your customers always happy, you should celebrate them for their continued patronage by throwing open promos and other appreciation programmes. Make sure you put your customers and your product in mind when designing promos. You could ask them to write about themselves, the experience they have had using your product and what they would like to change or something of the sort. With good prizes on the ground, you’ll have a lot of people entering.

4. Turn up for them
Some customers would invite you to special events and gatherings such as a simple get together, a child’s convocation ceremony, a birthday… anything. Don’t always blame business and not attend. Try to make time for them and go to their events. This would further endear you to them and they would see you not only as just a seller but a person also.
5. Carry them along
When making changes and modifications to your business, carrying the customers along would be a good way to let them know that they are appreciated, valued and considered a part of your business. It might be something as simple as changing the product packaging. Let them have their say on what they feel should be done and what should be dropped.
Asides the fact that you would gain their affection, you would also end up gaining a sea of ideas than you could have thought about alone.
