The African continent is the second largest world (Asia being the Larget) covering an of 30,370,000 km²(11.7 million square miles) and accounting for more than 16% of the total world population. The African continent is further divided into 5 sub-regions namely:

  • Northern Africa
  • Eastern Africa
  • Central Africa
  • Western Africa and
  • Southern Africa.

West Africa is one of the rapidly developing regions in both social and economic levels. The west African Sub-region is made up of 16 countries with a total population of over 360 million.
